Oryzomys fossilis
Taxonomy
Oryzomys fossilis was named by Hibbard (1955). Its type specimen is 29271, a partial skull (Right mandible with incisor and m1-m3 (fig 6I), part of left mandible incisor and m1 (fig. 6J) and part of right maxillary with M1.), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Jinglebob, which is in a Pleistocene terrestrial horizon in the Kingsdown Formation of Kansas.
It was synonymized subjectively with Oryzomys palustris by Kurten and Anderson (1980).
