Taxonomy
Palaearctomys montanus was named by Douglass (1903) [genotype]. Its type specimen is CM 740, a partial skeleton ( skull without the right zygomatic arch, parts of the cranium, and the cheek teeth; nearly complete right and left mandibular rami with worn cheek teeth; and pa), and it is a 3D body fossil.
