Taxonomy
Microreticulatisporites patagonicus was named by De Benedetti et al. (2024). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is MPEF-PA 929, a megaspore, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cerro Buitre Norte (CBN) Maastrichtian, which is in a Maastrichtian terrestrial siltstone in the La Colonia Formation of Argentina.

F. De Benedetti et al. 2024Spore trilete, amb rounded triangular to subcircular. Laesurae about 3/4 spore radius or extended to the margin, with raised membranous lips. Exine 1.4–2.6 μm thick, irregularly reticulated. Lumina 0.5–2.0 μm diameter, decreasing inward; muri/ridges 0.5–3.0 μm wide. An apiculate, granulate, or verrucate element, sometimes develops at the intersections of the muri. Outline irregularly crenulated.
