Taxonomy
Megalampris keyesi was named by Gottfried (2009). Its type specimen is OU 22268, a partial skeleton (semi-articulated partial skeleton), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Island Cliff Site, which is in a Duntroonian offshore limestone in the Kokoamu Greensand Formation of New Zealand.
