Taxonomy
Stigmametopus levisensis was named by Rasetti (1944). Its type specimen is Laval Univ. 1126a, a cephalon/head (cranidium), and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Idiomesus levisensis by Taylor (1976), Ludvigsen and Westrop (1986), Ludvigsen et al. (1989), Westrop (1995) and Adrain and Westrop (2004).
