Taxonomy
Cimexomys magister was named by Fox (1971). Its type locality is Verdigris Coulee (UA-MR-6), which is in a Santonian terrestrial sandstone/shale in the Milk River Formation of Canada.
It was recombined as Paracimexomys magister by Archibald (1982), Lillegraven and McKenna (1986), Montellano et al. (2000), Eaton and Cifelli (2001), Kielan-Jaworowska et al. (2004).
