Parahippus pawniensis atavus
Taxonomy
Parahippus pawniensis atavus was named by Osborn (1918) [named as subspecies of P. pawniensis by Osborn 1918; nomen dubium according to Macdonald 1992; first raised to species level]. Its type specimen is AMNH 14233, a partial skeleton (Occiput of skull with a consiqerable part of the skeleton, in excellent preservation, C 1, 4-7, dorsals, fore and hind limbs), and it is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Parahippus atavus by Coombs and Coombs (1997).
