|---|---|---|
| A. E. Wood 1962 (Paramys copei major) | Hypocone absent on P4, but large and clearly distinct from protocone on M1-2; metaconules single to double, sometimes only indicated as a slight swelling on the metaloph; mesostyle single and elongate anteroposteriorly, but sometimes weak or absent; ac- cessory cusps in posterior half of M3; P3 small and simple; M1-2 wider than in other subspecies; gradual increase in size of lower teeth from P4 to M3; metaconid anterior to protoconid; trigonid basin small, generally connecting freely with the talonid basin; M2 essentially square, instead of having narrow trigonid as in other subspecies; sides of lower incisors parallel; amount of enamel cap on incisors variable, but not present on median side of teeth; mental foramen double, but pos- terior foramen generally minute; somewhat larger (but not significantly so) than other subspecies of P. copei, especially in transverse diameter of upper teeth; tooth measurements as given in tables 12-13. |
