Taxonomy
Tomiopsis ovulum was named by Waterhouse (1971). Its type specimen is GSC 24802 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is GSC 55930, Alaska Highway, which is in an Asselian marine sandstone/siltstone in the Kindle Formation of Canada.

It was recombined as Tomiopsis (Ambikella) ovulum by Waterhouse (1998).

Waterhouse 1971Subglobular shells with shallow sulcus and subdued fold commencing at umbones, sulcus bordered by low narrow plicae, and bearing two subplicae which merge anteriorly into median swelling, fold not sulcate, plicae of four to five pairs, low and narrow; micro-ornament fine. Adminicula of moderate length, close-set; tabellae long, spaced moderately far apart.
