Meleagris californica

Taxonomy
Pavo californicus was named by Miller (1909). Its type specimen is UCMP 11300, a limb element (right tarsometatarsus), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Rancho La Brea (UCMP collection), which is in a Rancholabrean tar tar in California.

It was recombined as Parapavo californicus by Miller (1916), Hay (1930), Lambrecht (1933), Miller and Johnston (1937), Wetmore (1940), Miller and DeMay (1942), Wetmore (1956); it was recombined as Meleagris californica by Bocheński and Campbell (2006).
