Anosteira crowcreekensis was named by Hutchison and Westgate (2024) [urn:lsid:zoobank.org:act:ED287597-E98F-445F-9EE5-AD560F4C89BF]. Its type specimen is UCMP 258185, a set of postcrania (neural 4), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Crow Creek, which is in a Priabonian estuary/bay marl in Arkansas.
