Taxonomy
Cypripediodens cristatus was named by Duffin and Ward (2017). Its type specimen is NHMUK PV P73964, a tooth, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Once-a-week Quarry, which is in a Brigantian sand shoal grainstone/packstone in the Eyan Limestone Formation of the United Kingdom. It is the type species of Cypripediodens.
