Volactrix simmonsae
Taxonomy
Volactrix simmonsae was named by Czaplewski et al. (2022). Its type specimen is USNM PAL 544092, a mandible (right dentary with p2-m3), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Elderberry Canyon Quarry, which is in a Bridgerian lacustrine - small limestone in the "Sheep Pass" Formation of Nevada. It is the type species of Volactrix.
