Diagnosis
ReferenceDiagnosis
M. Hao et al. 2025Yuanyanglong bainian is a small-bodied oviraptorosaurian that differs from all previously known species in having the following unique combination of character states (autapomorphies indicated by asterisk): no pleurocoels on the dorsal, sacral and anterior caudal centra; the preacetabular process of the ilium approximately 40% longer than the postacetabular process*; hook-like anteroventral process of the ilium extending to the level of the dorsal acetabular margin*; pubic shaft nearly straight in lateral view; reduced anterior process of the pubic boot shorter than the hooked posterior process*; broad obturator process with a strongly concave ventral edge; slender tibiotarsus (distal end mediolateral width to whole bone length ratio about 0.08)*; tibia, astragalus and calcaneum fused into tibiotarsus without distinct suture; distal tarsals and metatarsals fused without distinct suture; arctometatarsalian pes has only the proximal-most extremity of metatarsal III obscured from anterior view.
