Taxonomy
Xiaohenautilus chatelaini was named by Jenks et al. (2025). Its type specimen is NMMNH P-97317, a shell, and it is a mold. Its type locality is NMMNH L-13559, Crittenden Springs north section, which is in a Dienerian marine mudstone in the Dinwoody Formation of Nevada.
