Taxonomy

Murex (Ocinebra) tethys was named by Nomland (1917). Its type specimen is UCMP 11099 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is UCMP loc. 2986, Kreyenhagen Hills, which is in a Pliocene marginal marine sandstone/conglomerate in the Etchegoin Formation of California.

It was recombined as Tritonalia tethys by Grant and IV and Gale (1931).

Synonyms

Chrysodomus packardi was named by Nomland (1917). Its type specimen is UCMP 11096 and is a 3D body fossil.

It was replaced with Chrysodomus praenominata by Hanna (1924).
Chrysodomus praenominata was named by Hanna (1924).

It was synonymized subjectively with Tritonalia tethys by Grant and IV and Gale (1931).
