Bathyuriscus ornatus was named by Walcott (1908). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is The Burgess Shale (skeletonized fauna), Stephen Fm., which is in a St Davids marine shale in the Stephen Formation of Canada.
It was recombined as Klotziella ornata by Rasetti (1951).
