Taxonomy
Propalaeanodon schaffi was named by Rose (1979) [genotype]. Its type locality is Jepsen Valley Quarry, which is in a Tiffanian terrestrial horizon in the Fort Union Formation of Wyoming. It is the type species of Propalaeanodon.
