Pholadomya (Moewakamya) hudsoni was named by Campbell and Grant-Mackie (1995). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Locality R13/f6500, Waikato, which is in a Callovian/Oxfordian marine sandstone in the Moewaka Formation of New Zealand. It is the type species of Pholadomya (Moewakamya).
