Taxonomy
Oligopteryx hamaxitos was named by Morgan and Czaplewski (2023). Its type specimen is UF 157768, a mandible (left dentary fragment with m1-m2), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Brooksville 2, which is in an Arikareean fissure fill claystone/sandstone in Florida.
