Protosciurus tecuyensis

Taxonomy
Sciurus tecuyensis was named by Bryant (1945). Its type specimen is UCMP 23611, a mandible (part of a right mandibular ramus extending from the level of the anterior margin of p4 to the basal part of the vertical ramus; m1 and m2 well preserved), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Tecuya Canyon, which is in an Arikareean terrestrial horizon in the Tecuya Formation of California.

It was recombined as Protosciurus tecuyensis by Black (1963).
