LSID urn:lsid:zoobank.org:act:D56CE466-9500-487C-A5F4-2C936F553440 Derivation of name. The species is dedicated to Alicia Etel Rico, in recognition of her studies on the benthic fauna of Comodoro Rivadavia harbour, and for her years of teaching at Universidad Nacional de la Patagonia San Juan Bosco.

Taxonomy
Stephanollona ricoae was named by Iturra et al. (2025). Its type specimen is MPEF-PI 7192, a shell (one colony on a shell), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cerro Antena, near Comodoro Ricadavia, which is in a Burdigalian/Langhian shallow subtidal sandstone in the Chenque Formation of Argentina.

D. Iturra et al. 2025 Colony encrusting, autozooids with cleithridiate orifice and a U-shaped sinus in the proximal margin. Six articulated oral spines around the orifice, of which only the bases persist. Avicularian dimorphism absent. Avicularia adventitious, paired or single, oval, lateral to the orifice; rostrum smooth, crossbar complete, with a short ligula. Ovicell globular to subimmersed, imperforate, aperture with a well-developed labellum flanked by indentations
