Devonodontochile maccoyi vigerle was named by Šnajdr (1987).

It was recombined as Odontochile (Devonodontochile) maccoyi vigerle by Pek and Vanek (1989); it was recombined as Zlichovaspis maccoyi vigerle by Vaněk and Valíček (2002); it was recombined as Zlichovaspis (Devonodontochile) vigerle by Budil et al. (2008), Budil et al. (2009).
