Raine 2008Large zonate trilete spores; outline of spore body in polar view rounded triangular, outline including zona subcircular; laesurae extend fully to spore radius and have membraneous elevated labra up to ca 13 µm high, which extend to the radial extremities of the zona; homogeneous nexine ca 1–2 µm thick, clearly differentiated
from spongeous sexine, which is slightly thinner; in zona only, sexine intrastructure
with radially directed elements; sexine surface scabrate overall, and distally bearing
sparse ornament of narrow echinae or setae up to 4 µm in height, ca 1 µm in basal
diameter; zona up to 25 µm wide in interradial regions, slightly narrower in radial
regions, thinner in a narrow band 2 – 3 µm wide paralleling the margin and ca 1.5 µm inside it, and minutely apiculate at its margin.
