Taxonomy
Echinorhinus pozzii was named by Ameghino (1906). Its type specimen is MACN-A 12702, a tooth, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Bahía Nueva, which is in a Burdigalian marine siliciclastic in the Gaiman Formation of Argentina.
