Taxonomy
Otodus koerti was named by Stromer (1910). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Adabion, which is in a Thanetian carbonate limestone in Togo.

It was recombined as Odontaspis koerti by White (1926); it was recombined as Odontaspis (Parodontaspis) koerti by Dartevelle and Casier (1943); it was recombined as Serratolamna koerti by Landemaine (1991); it was recombined as Brachycarcharias koerti by Marramà et al. (2019).
