Belemnocystites wetherbyi
Taxonomy
Belemnocystites wetherbyi was named by Miller and Gurley (1894). Its type specimen is FMNH UC 6046 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is High Bridge, Curdsville Belemnocystites type locality, which is in a Trentonian deep subtidal ramp grainstone/packstone in the Lexington Limestone Formation of Kentucky. It is the type species of Belemnocystites.
