Taxonomy
Piscichnus waitemata was named by Gregory (1991). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is X39, an other, and it is a trace fossil. Its type locality is Matheson's Bay, which is in a Waitakian/Otaian marine conglomerate in the Cape Rodney Formation of New Zealand.
