Diagnosis
ReferenceDiagnosis
H. Jiménez Velandia et al. 2025Vitosaura colozacani is a medium-sized abelisaurid theropod that differs from other ceratosaurs in the presence of the following unique combination of character states: anterior dorsal vertebrae without posterior pleurocoels in the centrum (posterior pleurocoels present in some ceratosaurs, e.g., Canotaurus, Koleken), anterior dorsal vertebrae with a transverse groove on the distal surface of the neural spine (shared with Majungasaurus and Viavenator, but absent in other taxa), ilium with subequal size of pubic and ischial articulation surfaces (only shared with Rahiolisaurus among abelisaurid taxa), and vertical ischial peduncle (shared with Genusaurus), and pubic shaft decreasing its anteroposterior depth distally (autapomorphy).
