Simidectes merriami
Taxonomy
Pleurocyon (Simidectes) merriami was named by Stock (1933). Its type specimen is CIT 1139, a mandible (left ramus of mandible), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Pearson Ranch (Bed CS20), which is in a Duchesnean terrestrial horizon in the Sespe Formation of California.
It was recombined as Simidectes merriami by Coombs (1971), Gustafson (1979).
