Durania ojanchalensis was named by Myers (1968) [= ?1930 Durania huasteca Adkins p. 96, pl. 6, figs. 1–4.]. It is the type species of Huasteca.
It was recombined as Huasteca ojanchalensis by Pons et al. (2013).
