Taxonomy
Strathcona major was named by Dawson (2001). Its type specimen is CMN 32363, a tooth (? m1 sin.), and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Ellesmere Island (Lower), which is in a Wasatchian deltaic horizon in the Margaret Formation of Canada.
