Taxonomy
Mya (Arenomya) sowerbyi was named by Zinsmeister (1984). Its type specimen is USNM 365546, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is IPS 1, Cape Wiman, Seymour Island, which is in a Lutetian paralic conglomerate in the La Meseta Formation of Antarctica.
