Taxonomy
Lepus palustris was named by Bachman (1837). It is extant.

It was recombined as Limnolagus palustris by Lyon (1904) and Corbet (1983); it was recombined as Sylvilagus palustris by Kurten and Anderson (1980), Robinson (1984), Halanych and Robinson (1997), Hulbert and Pratt (1998) and Albright et al. (2019).
