Taxonomy

Aspergillum multangulare was named by Tate (1887). It is the type species of Dianadema.

It was recombined as Clavagella (Clavagella) multangularis by Smith (1971); it was recombined as Dianadema multangularis by Morton (2003).

Synonyms

Aspergillum (Humphreyia) liratum was named by Tate (1887) [DISTRIBUTION: Cenozoic; Southern Australia.]. It is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Adelaide Bore, Kent Town - Tortachilla Limestone, which is in a Priabonian marine sandstone in the Tortachilla Limestone Formation of Australia.

It was recombined as Clavagella liratum by Darragh (1970); it was synonymized subjectively with Clavagella (Clavagella) multangularis by Smith (1971); it was synonymized subjectively with Dianadema multangularis by Morton (2003).
