Taxonomy

Magyarosaurus was named by Huene (1932). Its type is Titanosaurus dacus.

It was synonymized subjectively with Titanosaurus by Romer (1956), Steel (1970); it was synonymized subjectively with Hypselosaurus by Tatarinov (1964), Romer (1966).

It was assigned to Cetiosaurinae by Kuhn (1939); to Titanosaurinae by Charig (1967); to Lithostrotia by Upchurch et al. (2004), Curry Rogers (2005); to Titanosauria by Wilson and Sereno (1998), Wilson (2002), Pereda Suberbiola and Galton (2007), Pereda Suberbiola and Galton (2007); to Titanosauriformes by Codrea et al.
