Diagnosis
Reference | Diagnosis | |
---|---|---|
R. J. Butler et al. 2008 | Arched diastema between premaxilla and maxilla present; enlarged caniniform teeth absent from the premaxilla and dentary. | |
D. B. Norman et al. 2011 | Heterodontosaurid that lacks enlarged caniniform premaxillary and dentary teeth; anterior end of dentary ramus dorsoventrally deeper than mid-section; 12 maxillary and 14 dentary crowns; crowns are generally leaf-shaped in profile, but show little development of a median (primary) ridge and show only weak development of anterior and posterior ridges; prominent laterally projecting maxillary shelf is absent, and there is, consequently, no well-marked cheek recess; | |
P. C. Sereno 2012 | Heterodontosaurid ornithischian characterized by the follow- ing autapomorphies: (1) premaxillary tooth 2 and 3 with tall, subcylindrical crowns, the latter possibly representing a reduced caniniform tooth; (2) dentary tooth 2 with subcylindrical crown, possibly representing a reduced caniniform tooth; (3) maxillary and dentary teeth with flat lateral and medial crown surfaces lacking discrete marginal or median ridges; and (4) maxillary crowns in the middle of the tooth row have deep parallel-sided crowns that do not expand in mesiodistal width toward their apex. Un- like other heterodontosaurids, there is no dentary or premaxillary caniniform teeth, although both the dentary and premaxillary have teeth with subcylindrical crowns that may be reduced caniniform teeth. |
