Borhyaena tuberata was named by Ameghino (1887).

Synonyms

Borhyaena zitteli was named by Ameghino (1894) [1894a]. Its type specimen is MACN A 5922, a partial skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Santa Cruz Formation, which is in a Santacrucian terrestrial horizon in the Santa Cruz Formation of Argentina.

It was synonymized subjectively with Borhyaena tuberata by Marshall (1978).
Borhyaena sanguinaria was named by Ameghino (1894) [1894a].

It was synonymized subjectively with Borhyaena tuberata by Marshall (1978).
Arctodictis australis was named by Mercerat (1891).

It was synonymized subjectively with Borhyaena tuberata by Ameghino (1894) and Marshall (1978).
Acrocyon patagonensis was named by Mercerat (1891) [1891a].

It was synonymized subjectively with Acrocyon sectorius by Ameghino (1894); it was synonymized subjectively with Borhyaena tuberata by Marshall (1978).
Conodonictis exterminator was named by Ameghino (1891).

It was synonymized subjectively with Borhyaena tuberata by Marshall (1978).
Conodonictis rapax was named by Cabrera (1927).

Conodonictis saevus was named by Ameghino (1891) [1891d]. It is the type species of Conodonictis.

It was corrected as Conodonictis saeva by Ameghino (1935); it was synonymized subjectively with Borhyaena tuberata by Marshall (1978).
