Taxonomy
Hemitelia pinnata was named by MacGinitie (1941). Its type specimen is UCMP Paleobotany 2145 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is UCMP loc. P3320, Buckeye Flat, which is in an Eocene floodplain claystone in California.
