Stephanomys ramblensis was named by van de Weerd (1976) [Type specimen held in the Instituto Provincial de Paleontologia, Sabadell.]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Valdecebro 3, which is in the Turolian of marl the Alfambra Formation Spain.
