Adkinsella was named by Wells (1933) [Sepkoski's age data: K Albi Sepkoski's reference number: 2]. It is not extant. Its type is Adkinsella edwardsensis.

It was assigned to Flabellidae by Wells (1956); and to Scleractinia by Sepkoski (2002).
