Barbatia (Plagiarca) was named by Conrad (1873) [m. kosnik taxon no: 7140]. It is not extant.

It was reranked as Plagiarca by Vokes (1980) and Kosnik (2002).

It was assigned to Arcinae by Vokes (1980) and Kosnik (2002); and to Barbatia by Eames (1951) and Kosnik (2002).
