Taxonomy
Skeneadae was named by Clark (1851) [m. kosnik taxon no: 5293]. It is extant. Its type is Skenea.

It was reranked as the subfamily Skeneinae by Stimpson (1865), Gardner (1948) and Bouchet et al. (2005); it was corrected as Skeneidae by Beu et al. (1990), Beesley (1998), Todd (2001), Wienrich (2001) and Bouchet et al. (2017).

It was assigned to Trochidae by Gardner (1948); to Trochacea by Beu et al. (1990); to Archaeogastropoda by Wienrich (2001); to Turbinidae by Stimpson (1865) and Bouchet et al. (2005); and to Trochoidea by Beesley (1998), Todd (2001) and Bouchet et al. (2017).
