Taxonomy
Australodelphis was named by Fordyce et al. (2002). It is not extant. Its type is Australodelphis mirus. It was considered monophyletic by Murakami et al. (2014).

It was assigned to Delphinidae by Fordyce et al. (2002), Murakami et al. (2014), Marx et al. (2016), Berta (2017).
