Taxonomy
Araeodelphis natator was named by Kellogg (1957). Its type specimen is USNM 10478 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Chesapeake Beach, south of, Zone 4-9, which is in a Burdigalian offshore claystone in the Calvert Formation of Maryland.
