Taxonomy
Odontaspis hardingi was named by Cappetta and Case (1975). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Hop Brook (HBR), which is in a Maastrichtian coastal sandstone in the Navesink Formation of New Jersey.
It was recombined as Synodontaspis hardingi by Peng et al. (2001); it was recombined as Carcharias hardingi by Beavan (1995), Case and Cappetta (2004).
