Taxonomy

Paroxacron was named by Hürzeler (1936). It is not extant. Its type is Oxacron valdense.

It was assigned to Caenotheriidae by Hürzeler (1936); and to Oxacroninae by McKenna and Bell (1997), Blondel (2005), Erfurt and Metais (2007), Weppe et al. (2019).

Reference	Diagnosis
J. Hürzeler 1936	Upper molars with distinctly splitted mesostyle loop; upper P3 with a single cusp and and a weak second point. Upper and lower P3 and P4 elongated, low and praemolar-like; only unimportant diastema infront of upper P3 and P4 and lower P2 and P3.
