It was assigned to Odontoceti by Fitzgerald (2004); to Platanistoidea by Fordyce and de Muizon (2001), Bianucci and Landini (2007), Rice (2009), Lee et al. (2012), Aguirre-Fernández and Fordyce (2014), Marx et al. (2016); and to Odontoceti by Berta (2017).
