Gastonia burgei

Taxonomy
Gastonia burgei was named by Kirkland (1998). Its type specimen is CEUM 1307 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Robert Gaston Quarry (CEU 91-1), which is in a Valanginian pond siltstone/limestone in the Cedar Mountain Formation of Utah. It was considered monophyletic by Vickaryous et al. (2004).

Kineer et al. 2016Differs from Gastonia lorriemcwhinneyae in having a proportionally longer paroccipital process and a more distally expanded basisphenoid that is proportionally longer relative to basicranial length; and ischium with mid-shaft kink. Postacetabular process is 56% the length of the preacetabular process.
