Astadelphis was named by Bianucci (1996).
It was assigned to Stenoninae by Fordyce and de Muizon (2001); to Delphininae by Marx et al. (2016); to Delphinidae by Bianucci (1996), Ormezzano and Lanzetti (2014), Murakami et al. (2014), Berta (2017); and to Globicephalinae by Bianucci et al. (2022).
